José Palma received a B.S. degree from the **[[http://www.ulpgc.es|University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain]]**, in 1990 and a Ph.D degree from the **[[http://www.um.es|University of Murcia]]**, Spain, in 1999, both on Computer Science. He is Associate Professor of Computer Science in the **[[http://www.diic.um.es|Department of Information Engineering and Communications]]** and the [[http://www.fi.um.es|Computer Science School]] at the University of Murcia since 2000, but were being teaching in this department as Aggregate Professor since 1996.  Prior to joining University of Murcia, he worked for 6 years in the **[[http://www.dis.ulpgc.es|Department of Computer Science and System]]** at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He has authored/co-authored various journal articles, book chapters and congress papers. His research activity is focused on medical informatics, specifically in intelligent data analysis, medical knowledge-based systems, clinical knowledge management and ambient intelligent applications. The main techniques used in this research are machine learning, fuzzy-logic, knowledge-engineering methodologies, ontologies and temporal reasoning.

Currently, José Palma research activity is carried out within the **[[http://perseo.inf.um.es|AIKE]]** reserach group (Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Engineering). Also he belongs to the board of directors of the **[[http://www.aepia.org|AEPIA]]** (Spanish Assocation for Aritificial Intelligence) and is senior member of the  **[[http://www.embs.org/|IEEE Engnineering in Medicine and Biology Society]]**. A continuous colaboration through different research projects has be stablished with the followings research groups:
