This section includes information about the external recognition our work has received. A major reason for the existence of this page is to recognize the excellent work done by the students of our Faculty, to which I wish the best in their career.
The master thesis “Developing new methods for gene set annotation with semantic similarity and data mining measures” done by Aarón Ayllón Benítez and supervised by Patricia Thébault, Fleur Mougin and Jesualdo Tomás Fernández Breis has received the Best Master Thesis 2016 by the regional network on ICT in Biomedicine, Infinite Salud.

The final degree project “Generator of Personalized Training Plans based on the Semnatic Management of Skills and Competencies” (done by Francisco Javier Fernández Hernánde and supervised by Jesualdo Tomás Fernández Breis) was awarded with the Best Project in the TIMUR 2012 Awards, for projects of industrial interest
The research work “Enriching the Gene Ontology via the Dissection of Labels using the Ontology Preprocessor Language” (J.T. Fernandez-Breis, L. Iannone, I. Palmisano, A. Rector, R. Stevens) has been awarded as **Best Research Paper** at EKAW 2010
The PhD thesis “Virtual Spaces for Learning Assessment based on Semantic Web Technologies” done by María del Mar Sánchez Vera (supervised by Mari Paz Prendes Espinosa, Francisco Martínez Sánchez and Jesualdo Tomás Fernández Breis) received the PhD Award from the Faculty of Computer Education of the University of Murcia in 2011.
The PhD thesis “A Framework for Incremental Knowledge Extraction from Natural Language Texts” done by Rafael Valencia-García (supervised by Rodrigo Martínez Béjar and Jesualdo Tomás Fernández Breis) received the PhD Award from the Faculty of Computer Science of the University of Murcia in 2005.
