Biography

My name is Óscar Cánovas Reverte, and I was born in Barcelona on September 8, 1975. I received my degree in Computer Science from the University of Murcia in 1998 and my PhD in Computer Science from the same university in 2003. I am currently a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Technology at the University of Murcia, which I joined in 1999.

Throughout my academic career, I have conducted research and supervised PhD theses in a wide range of areas, including information security, user authentication and authorization, identity management, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and activity recognition. In my Research section, you can find some of the papers I have published over the years. Since the beginning of my career, I have also participated in several national and international research projects.

In recent years, I have become increasingly involved in research on higher education and the use of educational technology. Since 2018, I have delivered workshops and training courses for university faculty (more information is available on the Training page).

Since September 1, 2026, I have served as Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science. Previously, I served as Vice-Dean for Communication and Teaching Innovation from February 2017 to July 2021.
