Óscar Cánovas Reverte was born in Barcelona, on September 8, 1975. He received a Bs degree in Computer Science from the University of Murcia in 1996, and a Ms degree in Computer Science from the same university in 1998. He obtained his PhD degree in Computer Science in 2003 from the University of Murcia. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, which he joined in 1999.
His main research interests are focused on information security, user authentication and authorization, identity management systems, software-defined networks and activity recognition. He has published several papers in international journals related to those topics, he has been the co-advisor of 4 PhD students and he works on several research projects (national and international).
He is also involved in several projects related to Educational Technology, especially to audience response systems and speech processing.
He was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science from 2017 to 2021.
