Rafael Marin-Lopez, Ph.D
Short Bio
I am now full time associate lecturer in the Department Information and Communications Engineering at the University of Murcia (Spain). I received B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Sciences from the University of Murcia in 1998, 2000 and 2008, respectively. I did a pre-doctoral internship in Toshiba America Research (New Jersey, USA) from 2005 to 2006 (1-year).
From 2003, I have been collaborating actively in standardization. In particular, I have participated in the IETF in diverse working groups (WGs): MIP6 WG, MEXT WG, EAP WG, MOBOPTS RG, HOKEY WG, PANA WG, DIME WG, RADEXT WG, PCP WG, ABFAB WG, ACE WG, 6TISCH WG and recently SDN IRTF. I am co-author of RFC 5193, RFC 5609 and RFC 5637 and several Internet-Drafts. Additionally, I am co-author of the standard IEEE 802.21a.
My main research interest includes Authentication, Authorization, Access Control and Key Distribution in different types of networks and services. In particular I have done and I am doing research in different areas: mobile networks (fast re-authentication and re-authorization) and Intelligent Transport System (ITS) access. Now I am exploring security aspects in Internet-of-Things (IoTs), Software Defined Networks (SDNs) and Network Virtualization Functions (NFVs).
I have participated in multiple european and national research projects and have published multiple papers in high impact journals/magazines and conferences. Moreover I have filled in several patents.
