Impact Factor is the most well-known meassure of influence of scientific journals. A nice improvement is Eigenfactor. In Eigenfactor.org you can obtain a nice classification of economic journal influence. Just click here.

Another nice but not consistent way of seeing impact of journals is simply asking Google Scholar for articles in that journal. Observing the amount of citations of top-articles list in the journal, we can have an intuitive idea of differences in the impact of articles published by different journals:

- Journal of Political Economy

- Quarterly Journal of Economics

- American Economic Review

- Review of Economic Studies

- Econometrica

- Journal of Economic Literature
