Multimedia Resources & the Use of the Internet in the Language Classroom

If you are still wondering why you need to take this course, you can find out how ICT-skilled you are by taking a test from the Information and Communications Technology for Language Teachers website. Do the “Can-Do” test and then think again how much you need this course, or if you need it at all!

On the ICT4LT's website, you will find training courses for language teachers to improve their knowledge and skill in different ICTs, organized by level. There are basic modules, intermediate modules, and advanced modules.
The basic level modules will give you an introduction to new technologies and their application in the language learning and teaching fields, focusing on word-processing and presentation software (1.1 and 1.3), an introduction to CALL (1.4) and to the use of the Internet (1.5).
The intermediate level modules will present you with different possibilities as to how to exploit the WWW on- and offline for your language teaching (2.3). It will also show you the possibilities of lexicography applied to the language classroom, mainly by teaching you how to use concordance programs in the FL classroom (2.4). Finally, there is an introduction to the use of authoring CALL software for modern foreign language teaching and learning (2.5.) There are also advanced level modules that you can check out if you think all the above are too basic for you.
I suggest that you visit their glossary (link on the left menu), to check out the meanings of terms such as blog/blogger/blogging/blogosphere, podcasts, wikis, vodcasts, authoring tools, webquests…

But we are going to have a look at all these resources in this course, as well. You'll find information about different multimedia resources and applications of the world wide web for modern foreign language teaching and learning on this page, where I will either lead you to other websites with information of interest or upload a powerpoint presentation with information on the issue in question, or both. Visit the different pages for blogs, webquests, podcasts/vodcasts, wikis, authoring tools, etc.
